My Story

My journey into photography began in high school with my father’s old Olympus film camera. Back then, it was little more than a curiosity—and I wasted countless rolls learning what not to do. But one simple suggestion from a friend, to photograph a leaf backlit by the sun, opened a door I hadn’t known existed. In that moment, a lifelong passion quietly took root.

Alongside photography, I’ve always been deeply connected to the night sky. Witnessing the Leonid Meteor Storm of 2001 left an impression that never faded and sparked a desire to merge my interests in both imagery and astronomy. Life took me on a winding path, but that dream never disappeared.

Everything changed with Comet NEOWISE in 2020. While teaching myself astrophotography during the pandemic, I finally found a way to unite my love for cameras and the cosmos. Three years later, at a dark‑sky site north of St. Louis, I captured my first mid‑latitude aurora outburst—an experience that ignited a new obsession: chasing Lady Aurora across North America.

The mission of Deimos Astro goes beyond capturing beautiful images. It is about reconnecting people with a night sky many have never truly seen. In a world increasingly washed out by artificial light, the stars remain a fragile and irreplaceable treasure—one at risk of being forgotten. Through my lens, I hope to help others rediscover a sense of wonder, connection, and perspective.

From the North Shore of Lake Superior to the mountains of the American West and beyond, I’m continually chasing that next unforgettable moment—and I’d love for you to join me on the adventure.
